Join us into the wild for a WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION during our regular Woods Wednesday meetup of forest school explorers with families exploring the forest in Ulster County, New York.

Expect a pace and rhythm of the children that attend, through unstructured, free play. Watch as the benefits, the magic, and the fun of playing in the forest unfolds.

With the recent snowfall we will be on the lookout for animal tracks and will bring some hot cocoa to share to help warm us all up. We will also bring a simple bird feeder craft the children can choose to complete if they desire to help celebrate the changing of seasons and light and help out our feathered friends during these short days.

***Please notice the change in parking.*** There are very few spots at Slabsides and with the snow the limited spots are pretty inaccessible. We will still be meeting at John Burroughs Nature Sanctuary but will be parking at the pond entrance instead. The parking is on Floyd Ackert Road about 200 feet past John Burroughs Drive on the left.
