Hope you all had a joyous holiday and happy new year!!

Join us into the wild for our Woods Wednesday meetup of forest school explorers with families exploring the forest in Ulster County, New York.

Expect a pace and rhythm of the children that attend, through unstructured, free play. Watch as the benefits, the magic, and the fun of playing in the forest unfolds.

As always we will be on the lookout for animal tracks and scat. Last week we noticed there were entire trees stripped of their bark that had us wondering what happened - I found out that woodpeckers strip the tree looking for the invasive Emerald Ash Borer beetles who are destroying the white ash trees from within! With our eyes and ears open we always leave our explorers group with some good questions to follow up on. I've had a simple bird feeder craft on hand but the children have created their own fun carving spears, testing the ice quality, locating an insect (yes, singular 😉), throwing rocks, climbing 'mountains' and belly sliding! Each week is different. Who knows what fun we'll have or questions we'll leave with this week!

Just a note - it's been pretty icy these past couple of weeks so use caution.

WEATHER: partly sunny with a high of 44 (make sure to use layers!!)
