Today started out as one of those days where everything seems to move slowly and getting everything ready seemed like an insurmountable amount of work. However, we pushed through, got to the forest a little late, and immediately started enjoying the wet!
The field and parking lot area is always a great place to get our juices flowing (and today was certainly no exception). I had just purchased backup rain gear for both kids and today was a great day (as any) to test it out. All the kids were excited to play in the mud, puddles, and "lake".
Since I was the first to arrive, I put them in their gear and they took off. I packed extra socks (2 pairs each) and extra towels, because I knew they'd be getting soaked and cold.
Once everyone arrived we decided to stay near the parking lot, but play by the water. It was a great choice. There was a swan (always here) and a heron enjoying the weather, and the swan actually came up close to us (probably expecting food, which we didn't have for him).
The kids all had an amazing (and exhausting) time. We got many compliments, from other people, about how great it was that we were outside (in the rain) with the kids.
Looking forward to next week!
