We said "Good morning!" to the horses, played in a field of grass as tall as our intrepid explorers, and then cooled off in the creek. A few kids spent an additional hour climbing the roots of a fallen tree. Some days, the group of children take off down the trail. Others, they want to be carried while directing the journey from our arms. Read this post to understand why this is normal and how to help your child warm up to the forest.

LOCATION: Kitchawan Preserve - where Pinesbridge Rd intersects Rt 134, in Ossining. Note: Parking is limited. Please be considerate and park as closely together as possible to make room for other cars. Walk into the park about 200 feet down the trail to meet (entrance has a gate across it). We like to play in the creek, so be prepared to get very wet and muddy!
