The wild flowers are in full bloom, filling the whole field. We found Orange butterfly weed, Vetch, Black-Eyed Susan, Pink Clover, Queen Anne's Lace, White Aster, and Milkweed. We spotted so many bumble bees and beautiful Orange fritillary Butterfly drinking nectar from those wild flowers. We also had fun popping the seed pot of the Jewel weeds. We noticed Shelf mushrooms, Turkey Tails mushroom, and many holes from the woodpeckers trying to get bugs from a tree. It's the first sign that this tree is mature and dying; this is sad but part of nature and life. We are amazed with how this forest has changed since we first came here a couple of months ago. We have learned so much from it!

LOCATION: Kitchawan Preserve - where Pinesbridge Rd intersects Rt 134, in Ossining. Note: Parking is limited. Please be considerate and park as closely together as possible to make room for other cars. Walk into the park about 200 feet down the trail to meet (entrance has a gate across it). We like to play in the creek, so be prepared to get very wet and muddy!
